India and Australia are set to lock horns once again. The highly-anticipated Border-Gavaskar Trophy will kick off on 22 November at the Optus Stadium in Perth. The Indian cricket team, set to be led by Jasprit Bumrah, will take on Pat Cummins’ Australia in the opening Test match of the series.

The Optus Stadium, where Virat Kohli has a terrific record will host the first Test. Perth curator Isaac McDonald had said that they were trying to mimic the classic WACA pitch at the Optus which would have had pace and bounce on offer. However, due to untimely rains in the city, that preparation took a big jolt.

It has rained in Perth in the build up to the opening Test match and rain is expected to play a part in the opening day, and is expected to influence the toss on Friday, November 22. As per predictions, there are 25 per cent chances of rainfall on Day 1 of the Perth Test match. The showers will take place in the morning, which will make the conditions conducive to fast bowling at the Optus Stadium.

PERTH WEATHER UPDATE

Apart from the opening day morning, there are absolutely no chances of rain in Perth for the rest of the Test match. There might be cloud cover here and there but the game should not face any hindrance due to the weather.

PERTH PITCH REPORT

The Perth curator had hoped that cracks would develop in the pitch as the game goes on, but that now seems unlikely. In that case, one can expect a lot of pace and bounce in the first two days of the Test match, but there on, it might turn out to be a batter’s paradise.

INDIA’S POSSIBLE COMBINATION

India are likely to play three pacers + one fast bowling all rounder in Nitish Kumar Reddy. At the moment, it seems like they will lean towards Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep.

In that case, either Ravichandran Ashwin or Ravindra Jadeja will play as the lone spinner.
