Winter Break 2024: Schools in Delhi, Punjab, UP, and Other States Announce Vacation Dates

NEW DELHI: As the winter chill sets in across northern India, several states have declared winter breaks for schools, giving students a much-needed respite from their academic routines. This break comes as a relief to students and parents alike, offering an opportunity to enjoy the colder months and festive seasons.
In Delhi, the government has announced winter holidays for schools from January 1 to January 15, 2025. In addition, schools will be closed on December 25 in observance of Christmas. This schedule allows students to enjoy an extended winter vacation, marking the beginning of the new year.
In Uttar Pradesh, the winter break is expected to run from December 25, 2024, to January 5, 2025. While the dates have been speculated, official confirmation is still awaited from the state education department.
Punjab has officially declared winter holidays for schools from December 24 to December 31, 2024. The duration may be extended depending on the prevailing weather conditions, ensuring students’ safety amid the cold weather.
In Haryana, schools will observe their winter vacation from January 1 to January 15, 2025, as reported by the Economic Times. Students in Haryana can look forward to a comfortable break after the hustle of the first half of the academic year.
Jammu and Kashmir has a distinct schedule based on grade levels. Schools for students up to class 5 will remain closed from December 10, 2024, to February 28, 2025. For students in classes 6 to 12, the winter break will span from December 16, 2024, to February 28, 2025.
In Rajasthan, winter holidays are scheduled from December 25, 2024, to January 5, 2025, providing students with a brief yet relaxing time off.
Bihar has also announced winter holidays from December 25 to December 31, 2024, bringing much-needed relief to students amid the cold weather.
With the cold intensifying, these winter vacations provide a chance for students to unwind, enjoy their holidays, and celebrate the festive season in comfort.
