As tension grips Uttar Pradesh’s Sambhal following deadly clashes, a 12-member Samajwadi Party delegation is set to visit the violence-hit area on Tuesday. The visit comes amid strict prohibitory orders and a ban on the entry of outsiders without prior permission.
Samajwadi Party MP Zia ur Rahman Barq and Sohail Iqbal, son of local SP MLA Iqbal Mehmood, are among those named in cases registered in connection with the incident. Police have arrested 25 individuals over the violence, which erupted on Sunday when a large crowd opposing a mosque survey clashed with law enforcement. The clashes claimed four lives and left many injured.
