A routine walk turned fatal for a woman in Peru on December 5 when an underground electrical box exploded beneath her feet. A video of the incident has now surfaced online.
The incident occurred on a busy pavement and left the woman partially plunged into the open cavity and injured.
The now-viral video has been extracted from the CCTV footage of the accident. The explosion sent the metal cover flying, striking the woman and knocking her into the exposed box.
Swift action by a man nearby prevented further harm as he quickly came to her rescue.

As per local reports, authorities attributed the explosion to a power surge caused by cable maintenance issues. However, Plus Energia, the company responsible for the electrical infrastructure, has denied any liability.
The injured woman is reportedly in stable condition and receiving medical care, according to TRT World. Investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the blast and to ensure such incidents are prevented in the future.
