A protest organised by the youth and student wings of the Congress in Bhubaneswar turned chaotic on Monday when a swarm of bees attacked the demonstrators.
Protesters from the Odisha Chhatra Congress and Yuva Congress were demanding the arrest of IAS officer Bishnupada Sethi in connection with a Rs 10 lakh bribery case.
The unexpected bee attack, believed to have been triggered by a nearby hive, sent protesters, police personnel, and journalists scrambling for cover.
Even police officers were seen retreating from the aggressive insects, while journalists were forced to report from the ground to avoid the stinging swarm.
After the chaos, the protesters regrouped and resumed their demonstration, reiterating their demand for Sethi’s immediate arrest.
Some protesters even attempted to breach the security barriers around Sethi’s residence, leading to clashes with the police and several arrests.
