Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) MLA and Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s wife Kalpana Soren alleged that she didn’t get clearance for her helicopter to fly on the last day of campaigning for the Assembly elections.

Addressing an election rally in Latehar over the phone, she said, “The people of Jharkhand are seeing how the residents of the state are being humiliated on the instructions of the Centre and the BJP. The state has been fighting against this exploitation and oppression for centuries. The BJP will get a befitting reply from people for trying to spread conspiracy in the state.”

However, Chief Electoral Officer K Ravi Kumar was quoted as saying by news agency PTI that her helicopter was stopped at Ghatsila for an hour due to the movement of Air Force planes in the bordering areas of Odisha.

He said that an official was relieved from duty for alleged violation of the Model Code of Conduct and misconduct in this connection.

Kalpana Soren, who is the star campaigner of the JMM, made the accusation at a poll meeting at Maulanagar Maidan in Jagannathpur constituency in West Singhbhum district.

She alleged that the BJP didn’t want girls to be educated and be “physically and mentally” strong.

“This is why the BJP closed schools in the state during their rule,” she said.

The Gandey MLA said that the BJP didn’t nothing for the progress of women in the state in the 20 years when it was in power.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister Hemant Soren-led government, provided pensions to 40 lakh people and allotted houses to 25 lakh, she claimed.

Kalpana Soren said that the BJP was the “party of businessmen and rich people who get irritated by the word Adivasi. They want to wipe out our identity and culture”.

Kalpana Soren was campaigning for Sona Ram Sinku, a candidate of the Congress, which is part of the JMM-led coalition.

Elections to the 81-member Jharkhand assembly will be held on November 13 and 20, while votes will be counted on November 23.
