VISAKHAPATNAM: Indian Institute of Management Visakhapatnam (IIMV) and the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) launched ‘PG certificate in entrepreneurship’ programme on Monday. This 18-month programme aims to empower aspiring entrepreneurs from both the Telugu states.
To harness the entrepreneurial culture in India, 30 budding entrepreneurs were selected from diverse backgrounds.The participants possess a range of work experience (0-14 years) and qualifications. The programme combines 10 months of academic training and 8 months of mentorship for venture creation, aligning with SIDBI’s ‘Mission Swavalamban’ initiative.
Prof. Sushil Kumar, Program Director, shed light on the extensive support that IIMV is set to provide. The objective of this comprehensive programme is to drive innovation and economic growth through the skill to enterprise model. According to him, this includes theoretical and analytical training, as well as assistance in securing funding, ensuring a holistic approach to nurturing talent.
Saurabh Bajpai, deputy general manager, SIDBI, graced the event as the chief guest. In his address, he emphasised the pivotal role of ‘education-4-entrepreneurs’ in fostering employment creation. He encouraged participants to make the most of this unique opportunity with the ultimate goal of venture creation and value proposition. He also commended IIMV for developing a rigorous and unique course, thoughtfully designed for the program’s first cohort.
While the program is fully funded by SIDBI, Prof. Amit Shankar, dean (research), highlighted that each participant carries a responsibility to contribute to the nation’s development. The participants also presented one innovative idea each across various fields, including but not limited to education , agritech, skill development and pharmaceutical. IIMV will help in developing these ideas over the course through training, mentoring, incubation, and support, with the aim of transforming them into viable start-ups.
Prof. Srinivas Josyula, program co-director, conveyed his appreciation to, SIDBI, the Chief Guest, Prof. M. Chandrasekhar (IIMV director), IIMV fraternity and the participants. He reiterated IIMV’s commitment to transforming each participant’s business idea into a reality.
