Hundreds of flights and several trains were delayed across North India as a dense blanket of fog engulfed multiple states, including Delhi, reducing visibility amid a continuing cold wave in the region. Over 150 flights were delayed, and around 30 were cancelled at Delhi Airport as airlines suspended operations as the runway visibility on Saturday morning was zero.
At Kolkata Airport, around 25 services were impacted. Airlines, including IndiGo and Air India, issued advisories to travellers, stating that “poor visibility due to dense fog is impacting flight operations in Delhi and parts of Northern India”.
The thick fog also disrupted train schedules and road traffic, causing widespread inconvenience.
