The renowned international Felix Schoeller Photo Award will take place for the seventh time in 2025
Professional photographers are invited to submit their works in the two categories “Sustainability” and “Emerging Talent” by April 5, 2025. Only those currently in training to become photographers can participate in the prize for the best emerging talent work. At the same time, the call for entries for the “German Peace Prize for Photography” is taking place, which is also open exclusively to professional photographers. The submission deadline for this is also April 5, 2025. The Peace Prize was first established in 2019 as a joint project by the city of Osnabrück and the paper producer Felix Schoeller. The company has been considered a pioneer in the production of specialty papers for photography since 1895.
Excellence in photography is the focus of the international Felix Schoeller Photo Award.
The international Felix Schoeller Photo Award was established in 2013 and has garnered an excellent reputation in the global professional photo community over its seven editions. Professional and emerging talent works from over 100 countries testify to the high level of attention the award generates among professional photographers. At the same time, the outstanding quality of the submissions reflects the shared global ambition of photography. Works can be submitted for the Felix Schoeller Photo Award in the two categories “Sustainability” and “Emerging Talent.” A prize of 5,000 euros is awarded in each competition category. The emerging talent award is aimed at photographers in studies, vocational training, or photo assistance. Young talents can creatively express themselves here, as there are no thematic restrictions. Interested photographers can submit their works until April 5, 2025.
Photography promotes dialogue on the topic of peace.
The German Peace Prize for Photography honors works that engage with the theme of “peace” both photographically and conceptually. The definition of “peace” is intended to be broad: from peace between nations and countries to peaceful coexistence in cities and rural areas, within families or groups, to the visual depiction of inner peace of individuals. The winner of the German Peace Prize for Photography will receive a prize of 10,000 euros.

Michael Dannenmann, founding member of the Felix Schoeller Photo Awards and chairman of the jury from the beginning, is dedicating more time to his own photographic projects but will continue to support the award in an advisory capacity. The new chairperson of the jury is Simone Klein, who has been part of the jury three times. Klein is currently an Art Advisor as well as an independent and publicly appointed and sworn expert in photography in Cologne. She studied art history, Romance studies, and German studies in Bonn and at the Sorbonne, Paris. After serving as the director of the photography department at Sotheby’s Europe with auctions in Paris, London, and New York, she most recently took over as international director of the Print Sales department at Magnum Photos in Paris. Additionally, the jury includes art historian and curator Cathérine Hug from the Kunsthaus Zürich, the director of the Museumsquartier Osnabrück, Nils-Arne Kässens, and Hannah Schuh, Visual Director of the art magazine ART.
For the German Peace Prize for Photography, the jury is expanded with Ulrich Schneckener, Professor of International Relations & Peace and Conflict Studies at the University of Osnabrück. The winners will be announced and honored at the festive award ceremony on September 25, 2025. The award-winning photographs, as well as the works of the nominees, will subsequently be displayed in an extensive exhibition at the Museumsquartier Osnabrück.
