Star India fast bowler Mohammed Siraj survived an injury scare on Day 2 of third Test against Australia at The Gabba, Brisbane on Sunday, December 15. Bowling his 11th over of the innings, the fast bowler seemed troubled by his knee after the second ball. Siraj stood there holding his knee while walking back to his delivery stride and was immediately attended by the team’s physio.
As a result, the India seamer had to walk back to the dressing room in the middle of the over which left Indian fans worried. His over was completed by Akash Deep as even commentators expressed concerns on Siraj’s fitness. However, much to the delight of Indian fans, he returned on the field four overs later and even stopped a boundary diving to his right at mid-off giving a wide smile to Travis Head.

Earlier, Siraj tried to distrub with Marnus Labuschagne’s confidence by walking over to the striker’s end and flipping his bails. The Australia batter was quick to switch the bails again to bring them into their original place which made the crowd go wild. However, much to his dismay, Labuschagne was dismissed in the very next over as he edged Nitish Kumar Reddy straight to second slip, where he was caught by Virat Kohli.

Kohli even made a silencing gesture after taking the catch to hit back the Australian crowd which had been booing Siraj since Day 1. Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah looked at his usual best on Day 2 as he picked early wickets. The pace spearhead first got rid of Usman Khawaja, finding a thin edge of his bat which went straight to Rishabh Pant behind the stumps.
Bumrah further dismissed Nathan McSweeney for 9 getting him caught at second slip by Virat Kohli. Australia went into lunch on Day 2 on 104/3 in 43 overs with Steve Smith (25*) and Travis Head (20*) at the crease.
