The Karnataka government has banned the flying of all sub-conventional aerial platforms in Bengaluru from February 10 to 14 during the Aero India 2025 event.
Sub-conventional aerial platforms such as drones, paragliders, and balloons are prohibited as they could potentially be used for surveillance or attacks.
Bengaluru City Police Commissioner B Dayananda issued the order under the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhitam (BNSS), citing security concerns. The commissioner emphasised that the ban is essential to maintain law and order and prevent untoward incidents during the high-profile event.
The biennial aerospace exhibition will take place at Yelahanka Air Force Station and aims to position India as a hub for manufacturing military aircraft, helicopters, and advanced avionics. The 15th edition of ‘Aero India’, which is Asia’s biggest aero show, is scheduled to be held from February 10 to 14.
The five-day event will feature a series of events, including a curtain-raiser, inaugural ceremony, Defence Ministers’ Conclave, CEOs’ round-table, and an iDEX start-up showcase. The event will also host thrilling air shows, an exhibition spotlighting the India Pavilion, and a trade fair with participation from leading aerospace companies.
With the theme “The Runway to a Billion Opportunities,” the first three days (February 10-12) will focus on business, while February 13 and 14 are designated as public days, allowing visitors to experience the air shows and exhibitions.
The event will serve as a platform for fostering partnerships between Indian and foreign firms and exploring new opportunities in the global value chain, further accelerating India’s indigenisation efforts.
