The Indian Navy will present a grand Operational Demonstration at Puri’s Blue Flag Beach on December 4, 2024, as part of Navy Day celebrations. The event marks the anniversary of Operation Trident, a critical naval offensive during the 1971 Indo-Pak War.
The President of India, Droupadi Murmu, will be the Chief Guest at the event, hosted by Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, Chief of Naval Staff. The demonstration aims to highlight the Navy’s capabilities and its dedication to protecting India’s maritime interests.
The display will feature over 15 ships, submarines, and more than 40 aircraft, with support from Marine Commandos (MARCOS) and personnel from the Indian Army. Highlights include aerial manoeuvres by MiG-29K and Hawk fighter jets, combat exercises by MARCOS, demonstrations of submarine operations, amphibious landings, and rocket firing from warships.
In the evening, the Eastern Naval Command Band will perform the traditional Beating Retreat Ceremony, followed by a precision drill and a drone and laser show.
To ensure smooth access for the public, the Navy and Odisha’s state government have planned detailed arrangements.
Traffic advisories are being issued, and parking locations have been designated. Visitors are requested to maintain cleanliness on the Blue Flag Beach to avoid hazards, and the flying of drones, kites, or similar objects is strictly prohibited for safety reasons.
Rehearsals, including naval aircraft flyovers, are underway in Puri. The event also aims to draw attention to Odisha’s rich maritime history, emphasising its significance as a key coastal state in both ancient and modern times.
